PBV’s are special Housing Choice Vouchers that are assigned to a variety of affordable housing units by attaching rental assistance to specific housing units rather than to the household. This means the subsidy is tied to the unit itself, not the household residing in it.  This important to understand because relocations or transfers are not allowed under this program.

PBV’s are awarded to individuals and families with a household income lower than 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Tenants pay 30% of their adjusted income toward an approved rent. SNRHA receives the tenant’s rent and the HUD subsidized rent since RAD properties are SNRHA owned and in-effect become the landlord.

Public housing authorities like SNRHA receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to manage and operate the voucher program.

Voucher size typically corresponds to the number of bedrooms in the dwelling unit. Currently, SNRHA’s payment standards are at 110% of the HUD published Fair Market Rents (FMRs). HUD updates the FMRs annually.

You may make your rent payments, view your ledger and be informed of any changes to your rent through the RentCafe portal.

Also, if you have any questions regarding your rent payments, you can contact your management office at your community or your caseworker who is listed on your account on RentCafe.
