The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires public housing authorities to determine eligibility of its HCV program participants on an annual basis to ensure the right level of housing assistance is provided.

The annual recertification includes the review of tenant income, household composition, social security number verification, background check and citizenship status confirmation.

Ninety days before annual recertification is due, the tenant will receive a notice from SNRHA to begin the process and complete a form with current information.

Any changes regarding interim updates will be communicated to tenants through SNRHA staff. Any changes to rent payment will require a 30-day notice ahead of a portion increase.

If a tenant has any questions regarding the annual recertification process, they can contact their caseworker who is noted on their RentCafe account.
