The Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority has an annual budget of $131 million and has received approximately $20 million in ARRA funds.
The SNRHA manages 24 public housing developments. These units (located throughout Clark County) are owned and managed by the Housing Authority. Additionally, SNRHA owns and manages scattered site properties (single-family homes) which are also part of the Conventional Public Housing Program. Of the 24 developments, 4 are designated senior developments, 5 are designated as elderly/disabled developments and 15 are designated as family developments. The SNRHA currently owns 2751 units of housing in Clark County and houses about 7290 people under the public housing program.
The SNRHA also administers approximately 10,000 Housing Choice Vouchers that allow families to rent in the private market and receive a subsidy towards their rent. With this assistance, residents are able to pay approximately 30-40 percent of their annual adjusted income toward rent, while the SNRHA pays the remainder. The SNRHA helps provide housing to approximately 38,000 people under this program.
Finally, the SNRHA maintains 1164 Affordable Housing Units. These units do not receive subsidy from HUD, however rents are affordable for low-income applicants.
While we are a new Housing Authority, serving all of Southern Nevada, we already have an extensive and honorable lineage as the successor to the Housing Authorities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Clark County. Now, all of that expertise is under one roof and we hope to serve you much more efficiently.
The SNRHA is made-up of staff from diverse cultural, ethnic and racial backgrounds. We believe diversity promotes awareness and understanding, and allows creativity and openness to change. The SNRHA recognizes and celebrates workplace diversity and believes it is essential part of our organization to face the challenges of the future.
