Housing Choice Voucher Department
Here you will find information on the SNRHA Housing Choice Voucher Program, formerly called Section 8. This program allows low-income families to choose and lease safe, decent and affordable privately-owned rental housing. Tenants can utilize rental vouchers to find their own units and live in whichever neighborhood they wish. Many take advantage of portability features of the program to transfer to other parts of the country. The term "Section 8" is used to describe the various Housing Choice Voucher Programs because the federal law which created them was Section 8 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. The SNRHA currently administers the following Section 8 programs: The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and Section 8 Project Based.
In the last few months, SNRHA's HCV team of 89 employees worked hard to provide essential services to our applicants and participants to accomplish the agency’s strategic goals. This included the merging of the three former Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers Programs into one agency. This new Regional Housing Authority will ensure that all HCV participants and owners are provided the same standards of high quality service and remove the separate policies and procedures that were sometimes confusing to our clients throughout Clark County. We thank you for your patience as we complete the final components of this transformation. Our primary goal is to ensure that we provide excellent customer service while complying with all regulations of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the administration of this program. We are proud of our nine year rating as a “High Performer” by HUD.
We assist nearly 10,000 families through partnership with over 4,000 landlord/owners. We have over 300 families that are participating in our Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program with over 280 graduates to date.

educational brochures and forms required to report changes, as well as
many informative brochures. We have also linked our Tenant/Owners Guidebook
regarding the Eviction Process in Clark County and a staff directory.
SHRNA’s Utility Allowance and Payment Standard schedules are also posted
for your review. Our department mails out quarterly newsletters to participants
and owners to keep you informed. Let us know if you have any concerns
or suggestions.
Limited English Proficiency Plan (LEP)
It is the SNRHA’s mission to ensure that all its programs and services are
accessible to all eligible clients. Therefore, we have implemented
a Limited English Proficiency Plan (LEP) to accomplish this goal. There
are applications, forms, and brochures available on these pages that
have been translated into Spanish. We also have bi-lingual staff available.
