Affordable Housing
This type of housing can be either ownership or rental in which a household will pay no more than 30 percent of its gross annual income. According to HUD, the generally accepted definition of affordability is for a household to pay no more than 30 percent of its annual income on housing. Families who pay more than 30 percent of their income for housing are considered cost burdened and may have difficulty affording necessities such as food, clothing, transportation and medical care. Affordable Housing funds are provided to states, units of local government and nonprofit organizations. The SNRHA has established 2 such developments with Affordable Housing funds.
The Robert Gordon Plaza Complex is a Affordable Housing development for elderly (55+)/ disabled. It was established in the year 1987.
